Product Description
A daily, gently exfoliating, acne-fighting face cleanser. It combines BHA + LHA (Salicylic Acid + Capryloyl Salicylic Acid) in 2% concentration, which provides deep cleansing, pore decongestion & sebum reduction without drying out the skin.
- Contains Salicylic Acid (BHA) that penetrates deep into the skin & scoops out the dirt, debris, and sebum, hence reducing the oily look of the skin
- Formulated with Capryloyl Salicylic Acid (LHA), which, unlike Salicylic Acid, stays on the outer layer of the skin and provides gentle exfoliation, revealing soft skin. The combination provides multi-level cleansing
- Boosted with anti-bacterial Zinc and several hydrating & soothing ingredients like Xylitylglucoside, Panthenol (Vitamin B5), Allantoin, Pentyle Glycol for hydrating overall after-feel
- Formulated with 2 very mild sulfate-free surfactants (cleansers) that provide optimum cleaning without stripping skin lipids or proteins
- All ingredients are sourced from leading global suppliers. Salicylic Acid comes from Merck, Germany, and is a high-purity grade ingredient.

Review – Minimalist Salicylic Acid Face Wash
My Skin Type: Combination-Oily in Summer, Dry in Winter, Sensitive, and Acne-Prone Skin
Packaging: Comes in a squeezable opaque tube with a flip-flop cap along with its outer box. The tube has all the details on it such as ingredients, directions, and expiry date. I won’t call it travel-friendly though because of its watery consistency. I like the overall minimal packaging.
Fragrance: No fragrance as such. Just a minimal medicated sort of fragrance. Didn’t bother my sensitive nose.
My Experience
The moment I opened the cap and squeezed the face wash, it was about to spread everywhere because it was full runny water-like in consistency. I wish the nozzle had more control over the flow of the face wash.
I took a coin-sized amount and lathered it up between my palms. Loved the soft-airy lather formed. I then started massaging my face with the face wash in soft gentle circular motions and I could feel a unique water-like texture on my skin.
I massaged my face for about 60 seconds and rinsed it off. What I here wanted to check is whether this face wash leaves a slippery soapy layer behind and thank GOD, it didn’t. It cleansed my skin thoroughly and I could feel the freshness on my skin. It cleaned the excess oil, sweat, and dirt without making my skin texture feel dry.
That being said, since it is a salicylic acid-based face wash, minor dryness is expected from the product when used regularly.
Whenever you use a product with salicylic acid or any product targeted for acne, it will dry your skin a little in order to work on active acne which is why it is highly recommended that you do not skin your moisturizer.
I used the Minimalist Salicylic Acid Face Wash day and night, daily, and gradually reduced the frequency to avoid dryness. I didn’t experience any breakouts or allergies. In fact, I did notice that this Minimalist Salicylic acid face wash worked on my active acne as I could see them shrunk and drying out after a week of usage.
There was an overall clarity and clean look on my face. A week earlier, I started drinking PCOD tea for my hormonal issues and that ended up increasing my body heat which resulted in acne, and Minimalist Face Wash worked on those big painful cystic acne even after those were hormonal acne.

I used the Minimalist Face wash along with Minimalist Toner and Salicylic acid serum which resulted in a noticeable healthy skin texture. Since I was experiencing the breakouts because of the tea, my skin texture also suffered and Minimalist Salicylic acid products not only worked on acne but also improved my skin health overall.
Please make sure you are not skipping out on your moisturizer every time you include a salicylic acid-based product in your skincare routine. Since all acne-treating products can lead to dryness, it is important to provide skin rich hydration it needs. 🙂

Weeks later, I realized Minimalist Salicylic Acid Face Wash kind of also prevented new acne formations as I didn’t see any new bumps or a pimple after I incorporated this face wash into my skincare routine. Marks are still here though and I don’t see any reduction in them. For my acne marks, I specifically use a Niacinamide and alpha-arbutin serum on alternate days as it helps with the spots and acne marks. I loved my Minimalist Niacinamide and Alpha Arbutin serum but since those are over, my current one from the Nykaa SKINRx range works almost equally good. Nykaa serums are milder than Minimalist but are no doubt, effective.
True to the claims, Minimalist Salicylic Acid Face Wash did control the sebum and acne production. I do not feel that excess oil around my nose anymore. Well, there is dryness in the air because of the season change as well but I do not see my pores clogging up because of excess sebum so that is a good sign.
Although I liked everything about Minimalist Salicylic Acid Face-wash, I did notice my skin feeling dry after a month of usage or more. It was kind of expected though. Salicylic Acid based products do require a break in-between.
With all the factors contributing to the dryness such as the season change, acne products, and hormones, I felt a strong need to switch to more hydrating products, giving a break to Minimalist Salicylic Acid Face Wash. That is when I decided to buy Minimalist Oat Face Wash. Now I keep a balance between the two.
While using the Minimalist Salicylic acid face wash on a regular basis, I had this comparison going on in my mind with Neutrogena Deep Clean Face wash because that one was my constant for months and helped me a lot in treating active acne.
I feel the major difference between Minimalist Face Wash and Neutrogena Deep Clean Face Wash is consistency and texture. Minimalist gives this light watery kind of consistency with an airy foam texture while the Neutrogena one forms a rich lather and is in runny gel consistency.
I am overall really happy with the Minimalist Face wash and not only me, but my brother also became a huge fan of Minimalist Brand after using this face wash. He specifically said that he ain’t using anything on his skin apart from this, in his words, MINIMAL Face Wash. Yup, he said minimal. Bro, it’s Minimalist!

I love the Brand Minimalist for my sensitive and acne-prone skin and because all their products worked like a charm for my skin, I have this trust in their products which is why I recommend Minimalist Serums and other products to everyone suffering from acne or other skin related problems.
The next I am thinking of trying is Minimalist Sunscreen because having acne-prone skin very few options are left for you. The only sunscreen to date that worked for me is YBP Sun-salve and Episoft Sunscreen.
Who knows, Minimalist sunscreen works for me and I’ll be able to add one more product to my Minimalist Favourites and to the list of sunscreens that works for my sensitive skin.
