YBP Sunscreen SPF 25 Review for Sensitive and Acne-Prone Skin

Millions of sunscreen and none ever worked for me until I tried YBP Sunscreen or Sun Salve to be precise. I have spent so much money trying different brands and formulations of sunscreen but none of them worked. For a while I even gave up that sunscreen is not for me and I am going to stick to a good Vitamin C serum to reverse the sun damage if any.

But this can’t be like it forever. I had to find a solution or else my skin will start showing signs of early aging.

When YBP launched their sunscreen, I made my mind to go for it because this was the last resort. I have my faith in them and I knew that YBP products can never harm my skin.

I had my doubts because of my history with sunscreens but you can’t really say anything until you try it so I went ahead, spent the heavy amount, and got myself this YBP Sun Salve.

How To Use

Take a generous amount in your hands and apply it to your face and neck. Gently massage into your skin. Apply it 15 mins before sun exposure.

Review – YBP Sunscreen SPF 25

My Skin Type: Combination to Oily in Summers, Dry in Winters, Sensitive, and Acne-Prone Skin.

Packaging: It comes in a glass bottle with a pump dispenser. The cap though is not very safe and I got like zillion scratches and it is already broken.

The outer packaging is complete khadi like all YBP products. I really like this about them.

Fragrance: Not very appealing at first to be honest as it smells more like raw vegies but gets habitual over time.

My Experience

I started by taking 1 full pump and dotting it all over my face. While massaging, I could feel that it doesn’t blend that smooth and takes about a minute of massage to get completely absorbed by the skin. But once all done, it leaves my skin highly nourished and glowy. Worth the wait!

It has a universal tint as mentioned by the Brand but that hardly does anything so literally all the skin colors can use it.

Coming to the texture and consistency, it is runny in nature and 1 pump is more than enough for the whole face esp. if you are coming from a combination skin group. As I mentioned, massaging the sun salve takes some time but it doesn’t leave a white cast at all. The sun salve has highly nourishing properties and I didn’t feel like using any moisturizer with this sunscreen as my skin felt moisturized enough.

I started using this sunscreen at the peak of summer and had oily skin, I’ll be honest, it didn’t feel like a lightweight product. I could feel that there was something on my face but that feeling only lasted for a short time.

Initially, when I started using sunscreen, I noticed my skin used to turn dull after hours of application. I can’t figure out the science behind it but yes, I know this thing exists. I thought it was because I have oily skin and the product is on the heavier side but after a week or two, there was no such issue. Either my skin got adapted to it or the fact that I tweaked the way I was using my sunscreen.

I started using my salicylic acid followed by my Aveeno moisturizer before I apply sunscreen even though there was no requirement for additional moisturizer doing so, changed the way sunscreen was working for me. Including an additional layer between my skin and sunscreen stopped that dullness and that heavy sticky feeling. Since then the sunscreen has been working way more beautifully and to my surprise, my skin doesn’t feel heavy or oily at all.

I thought sunscreen being on the heavier side was going to make my skin look so oily if I pair it with my moisturizer but it worked in a totally opposite direction. It worked like the moisturizer sort of canceled out the heaviness of YBP sun salve.

I now regularly use YBP Sun salve and it’s been over months, I can clearly say, it works so well with my sensitive and acne-prone skin. No skin reaction, no breakouts, no clogged pores, and no allergies.

It even worked well under makeup and if you are not planning for heavy makeup, pairing this sun salve with a tinted lip and cheek cream looks really beautiful. Trust me, I tried it. The kind of healthy glow I get with this YBP Sun salve looks so pretty when paired with a tint, a lip balm, and sun rays. 🙂

In case you are wondering that it is only SPF 25, not even a full 30, it is mainly because YBP Sun Salve is ideal for everyday usage for indoor activities. But if you are planning to get heavy-duty sunscreen for your outdoor activities, this might not be your best option. Consider going for Lakme Sun Expert or ISDIN.

It isn’t a lightweight or matte sunscreen though. Their ingredients and formulations do not interfere with our hormones. Same reason, YBP claims to be brand-safe for even pregnant women.

Next time you buy a product, make sure its ingredients are healthy and respect your hormones. Saving some bucks on products can really cause you bigger harm in the future.

You can go for YBP products without any doubt and I think I am going to stick to this sunscreen for a while now. The next sunscreen I am going to try will be Minimalist as this brand has worked wonders for my skin. I am so happy that I finally have sunscreen for my acne-prone skin.
