Review – Lakme Sun Expert Ultra Matte Lotion SPF 50 Sunscreen

My Skin Type: Combination to Oily in Summer, Dry in Winter, Sensitive, Eczema, and Acne-Prone Skin

Packaging: It comes in a squeezable tube with a flip-flop cap which is convenient to use and easy to carry. The tube itself has all the information such as ingredients and expiry date.

Fragrance: It doesn’t have a very strong irritating fragrance so it is easy on my Sinus but it does have a very mild sunscreen fragrance which can be sensed only when sniffed. Neither triggered my allergies nor reacted with my skin.

My Experience

The moment I read “ultra matte” I immediately expected it to be super dry but surprisingly it is way too smooth in texture and was easy to massage like a moisturizer.

I took a decent amount and gently massaged it on my face post-moisturizer. The time I tried out the Lakme Sun Expert Ultra Matte Lotion, I had my eczema already flared up resulting in redness and dry patches so I was not looking to dry out it even more or trigger it with any other product.

I already had my Cetaphil Moisturizer along with Eucerin Cream to soothe the redness before I applied the sunscreen. Next, I proceeded with the Lakme Sun Expert Ultra Matte Lotion applying it thoroughly all over my face.

The first thing I noticed was how comfortable and easy to massage the texture is. It was immediately absorbed by my skin without leaving any stickiness or greasiness on my skin or even on my fingertips. The consistency wasn’t exactly like Episoft but it was easy on my skin in its own way.

It didn’t make my skin feel too dry or look way too matte and neither did it leave any uncomfortable heavy white cast behind. It was only mild and easily blendable. It was perfect and I feel it is going to work for all skin types. It definitely felt lightweight without being too heavy and also left a nice glow behind upon application. As claimed by the Brand, it can be easily worn under makeup. I tried this Lakme Sun expert ultra matte lotion under my Kay Beauty Foundation and Lakme CC Cream and it didn’t result in any greasiness or heaviness.

Even after hours, it didn’t result in dullness or oiliness and I feel this will be a really great sunscreen for my Oily Skin during peak summers. My main concern was Lakme Sun expert lotion worked for my sensitive skin and passed all the checks. It didn’t break me out, no reaction, and it didn’t aggravate my eczema either.

I wore Lakme Sun Expert SPF50 Sunscreen for my morning walk and it definitely protected my skin from Sun rash and sunburn. I did experience a slight itch for some reason but there was no redness or burns after sun exposure.

For someone who loves soaking in Vitamin D, sunscreen is really important and I feel so happy every time I find a sunscreen that works for me. But, here is the thing. Even though it says SPF 50+++, it is not a broad-spectrum sunscreen and only helps in protecting from UVB rays and not UVA rays. This means, it is ideal for protecting skin from sunburns and rashes but not helpful in protecting the skin from lines and wrinkles caused by Sun exposure.

I won’t consider using this sunscreen for my outdoor sun exposure and will only limit it to indoor uses. Because it isn’t a broad-spectrum sunscreen, I would not actively recommend this one as my first choice. Better go with UV Doux or ISDIN.

Summing Up

Lakme Sun Expert Ultra Matte Lotion SPF 50 worked great for my sensitive skin. I loved the soft and lightweight texture. It isn’t too matte to apply which I like. Easy to massage and doesn’t result in stickiness, heavy white cast, or greasiness. Worked well under makeup too. No dullness even after hours and didn’t result in heaviness. My eczema and acne-prone skin approved it. But, it is not a broad spectrum and does not offer protection from UVA rays making it not an ideal choice for heavy outdoor activities.
