Minimalist Sunscreen SPF 50 Review
Back with another Minimalist Review and this time it is Minimalist Sunscreen SPF 50 PA ++++. Sunscreen and I never had a really good relationship and if once in a while I do feel that a particular one is working for me, It doesn’t stay like that forever. The last sunscreen my sensitive skin approved was Episoft.

Even though sunscreens aren’t something that easily works for me, I am still always excited to try what’s new and hyped. I have given Minimalist Sunscreen enough time and I am all set to share my experience.

My Experience with Minimalist Sunscreen
My Skin Type: Combination to Oily in Summer, Dry in Winter, Sensitive, and Acne-Prone Skin
I tried the Minimalist Sunscreen first back in the summer. I purchased this along with Minimalist Vitamin B5 Moisturizer and Vitamin C serum which honestly didn’t do well for me.
After my cleansing and moisturizing, I applied Minimalist Sunscreen by dotting it all over my face and gently massaging it in. The texture and consistency were easy to massage in but I noticed something unusual and that was the product was getting rolled up in tiny white dots and being collected all over my face. I rub and massage more and more but they didn’t seem to disappear. It took a lot of massaging and dusting to finally get rid of those tiny white dots.
Next, after the application, I could feel that my face isn’t looking and feeling well. There was some stickiness and heaviness on my face and had a weird shine all over my face. My faced looked dull!
I could feel that there is something and that feeling wasn’t comfortable at all. I thought maybe because it has moisturizing properties, It didn’t need my additional layer of moisturizer. So, next time I skipped my moisturizer and went straight with the sunscreen. The results were no different this time in terms of stickiness.
Feels heavy upon application
Even though the texture is lightweight and doesn’t feel heavy while applying but once I was done, it gives me a layer of heaviness on my face. Since I skipped my moisturizer this time, I pretty soon started to feel my skin a little dry. Guess the moisturizing properties weren’t enough!
It settled in after some time but my skin didn’t feel as good as it felt after my morning skincare routine.
Pretty soon, I ditched the Minimalist Sunscreen and continued my routine without it. I couldn’t handle that shiny layer over my face.
Worked better in winters
Now, after all these months during winter, I decided to give Minimalist Sunscreen one more try before I finally shared my experience and to my surprise, this time, during December, it worked absolutely fine.
There was no rolling of the product on my skin, no stickiness or heaviness, no shine, and it just went in beautifully. I felt like I used a good moisturizer. Even though it didn’t exactly work like a moisturizer and I had to use my Aveeno because it’s winter already I was surprised to see how a sunscreen that worked so bad during summers worked the opposite in Winter.
I have no issue with Minimalist Sunscreen during these cold days but my skin didn’t accept it during the hot humid summer days. I don’t know how and what exactly made the difference but yes, it didn’t work at all during humid days and I like it now during cold winter days. And not only me, when I went through the online reviews on their website they were filled with people complaining.
Lakme Sun Expert Ultra Matte Lotion SPF 50 Review
Even though I am having absolutely no issues with Minimalist Sunscreen during the winter, I am not sure If I can recommend this because of the mixed results.
Summing Up
Minimalist Sunscreen SPF 50 PA ++++ is a lightweight sunscreen but it didn’t work for me at all during hot summer days. The product rolled on my skin forming tiny bits, it left my skin feeling sticky, and heavy and there was an uncomfortable shine too. During cold winter days though, it worked absolutely fine leaving no stickiness or shine behind. Didn’t cause any breakouts.
That was it. I hope you have found my experience and review with Minimalist Sunscreen SPF 50 PA+++ helpful. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
Have a Good Day!
Hey Niharika, great review. I adore your work ethic <3, Bless u.
Thank you. 🙂
I also used it..I have pigmentation..I felt it got darker after using this sunscreen…I have a query is it so…..does it darken up the pigmentation and is it compulsory to use this sunscreen after serum?
Hey, no the sunscreen doesn’t necessarily affects the pigmentation and it is not compulsory to use it after the serum. It should be a final step only in your day time skincare routine. Ideally, after moisturizer. My recommendation will be UV Doux Sunscreen or Nykaa SkinRx Sunscreen.
