Sale Alert for my readers-

Wearing silver jewelry could surely add a classy finishing touch to your whole appearance and give you an alluring appeal. However, would you be curious to know what else silver could do? Many people may not be aware of the benefits this precious metal provides, but surprisingly, it offers many health benefits.

It has numerous uses other than for jewelry and adornment, and humans have utilized silver for thousands of years. While the medicinal benefits of silver have been forgotten until more recently, the element has long been utilized in traditional medical treatments. Silver has many applications even today, and here are some surprising ways silver could improve your health.

How Silver Can Improve Your Health

1. It Has Powerful Antimicrobial Properties

Studies have shown that silver has antibacterial and antimicrobial properties, which means it could destroy bacteria, fungi, and certain viruses. The antibacterial action is ascribed to positively charged silver ions (Ag+) 21, 22. Silver ions use various mechanisms of action to attack bacteria. Although it’s unclear how silver kills cells, it has been shown that it does.

Silver is said to have a long history of helping fight infection, aiding in cold and flu prevention, helping in wound healing, and even providing assistance with cancer and arthritis. It’s also used in wound dressings, lotions, and medical equipment as it’s believed to prevent infection. External infections may be treated with wound dressings containing silver sulfadiazine or silver nanoparticles. Wearing silver may aid in the circulation and regulation of your body’s internal heat. According to research, wearing silver has aided in balancing moods and increasing energy levels. The metal’s inherent properties are believed to help in improving circulation, maintaining general body temperature equilibrium, and canceling out electrical disturbances in the environment. The element is also said to be capable of protecting against severe shocks.

3. Can Be Used For Sterilization

Silver is commonly utilized as an alternative disinfecting agent when using conventional disinfectants like chlorine would corrode surfaces or lead to the production of hazardous by-products. Thus, because of its sterilization properties, it could fend off viruses, keeping you away from sickness.

Since silver has been utilized as an antibacterial agent for thousands of years because of its antimicrobial properties, it has been introduced into many applications during the last few decades. This includes incorporating silver in the treatment of water, as well as in nutritional supplements and medicinal applications.

4. It Could Boost The Immune System

Antibodies, white blood cells, and other chemical and protein elements work together to attack and defeat threats such as bacteria, diseases, and viruses, recognizing them as aliens that endanger the body’s general health. Silver is one of these chemical elements that supercharges the body’s immune system, allowing you to remain healthy.

According to research, all human and animal bodies have a certain amount of silver, although it’s not a vital element. However, individuals with low levels of silver in their hair analysis were found to be often ill with a variety of ailments, including common colds, fever, flu, and other illnesses. Many scientists suspect that a lack of silver may be the primary cause of problems in the immune system.

Silver ions are also said to activate mast cells, which are vital components of the immune system and have to do with allergic responses, resistance to infections, and wound healing. This is so because the activated mast cells play a part in destroying the bacterial cells before they could multiply in the body.

5. It Could Indicate Acidity

Silver, as a metal, reacts and changes color when it comes into contact with various other substances that are known to be toxic. For instance, if your silver jewelry turns blue after prolonged use, this may signal that you have high salt levels in your body.

Due to the presence of sulfur/sulfides and amino acids in sweat, high acidity levels in your skin may cause it to react to silver jewelry. Your sweat’s acidic nature may discolor the jewelry. Thus, seeing a blue silver piece of jewelry may act as a reminder that you’re acidic and should limit acidic food and beverage intake.

Conclusion

Silver jewelry not only looks great on you, but it may also be beneficial to your health. As a result of the many surprising health benefits associated with silver, it’s still best to consult your doctor before taking or using silver products. Nevertheless, you can rely on the medicinal advantages of silver that have been proven historically and scientifically.

  1. These are really good points, and I’ve got to admit that while I LOVE jewellery (and have way too much of it ) I didn’t know most of these benefits. I also hadn’t realised about the acidity in your skin and sweat reacting to silver. I know it reacts, and it can do even when exposed to air which is why it’s not always easy to store and often requires cleaning. Great post, a really interesting read!
