Loreal Hyaluronic Acid Serum Review

L’Oreal Hyaluronic Acid Serum Review – I received L’Oreal Hyaluronic Acid Serum a while back as a part of PR. I have used products with Hyaluronic acid such as Nykaa Vitamin C serum which worked quite well for me. The only Hyaluronic Acid serum I have tried in the past was from Actium Plus which was recommended to me by my Dermat and unfortunately did not work out for me.
After learning about Hyaluronic acid’s benefits and what it does, I wanted to experience a good hyaluronic acid serum and its benefits. When I received the most hyped serum from L’Oreal which is their Revitalift Hyaluronic acid with 1.5% Hyaluron, I got super excited and couldn’t wait to experience the hype.
Quick Overview – Loreal Hyaluronic Serum Review
The serum is lightweight and doesn’t make my skin feel sticky. I somehow did not experience any major changes or outcomes in terms of plumpness. Unfortunately, this resulted in clogged pores. Worked for Mother’s dry skin though but nor for my combination and acne-prone skin.
I have been using the serum for a while now and in this article, I will be talking about how the L’Oreal Hyaluronic acid serum worked for my skin type.
Loreal Hyaluronic Acid Serum Ingredients
Aqua / Water, Glycerin, Hydroxyethylpiperazine Ethane Sulfonic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate, Peg-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil,. Secale Cereale Seed Extract / Rye Seed Extract, Calcium Pantothenate, Dipeptide Diaminobutyroyl Benzylamide Diacetate, Ascorbyl Glucoside, Disodium Edta, Pentylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin.
The Right Way To Use
Apply a few drops post cleansing, pat it dry, and follow up with a moisturizer.

Packaging
It comes in a see-through glass bottle with a dropper cap. The dropper works perfectly fine and that bottle itself is easy to store, use, and carry. I do not see many details on the bottle or on the outer box as well. I only see the manufacturing date but not the expiry, ingredients, or price.
Fragrance
It doesn’t have any particular scent. A general serum kind of note is there only when you sniff it.
My Experience with L’Oreal Hyaluronic Acid Serum
My Skin Type: Dry due to a history of eczema. Sensitive and acne-prone skin. I experience flaky skin and dry patches due to eczema flare-ups and allergies resulting in dryness more than the people who have dry skin in general.

I started using the serum after my face wash in my night-time skincare routine. I take a few drops onto my palm and dab gently all over my face when my skin is slightly damp. After the serum is all in, I follow up with my all-time favorite moisturizer which is Cetaphil. I am currently on my fourth tube.
Now, the serum talks about giving you an instant plump. Well, I did not experience an instant plump but I did notice a slight suppleness or plumpness after a few days of usage. It wasn’t something major but I could notice the change.
My Personal Favourites

The texture is lightweight, just like water, and is not at all sticky. It immediately got absorbed by my skin without leaving any tackiness behind.
I continued to use the serum and apart from that slight change, I did not notice anything in major. I did not feel the change in my skin’s hydration level or the way my skin looks.
Instead, I started noticing that my skin was getting clogged. Now hyaluronic acid serum is actually non-comedogenic which means it won’t clog your pores but it is the second time, that I ended up with clogged pores and breakouts with a hyaluronic acid serum.
I remember a video that came on my feed where the lady said that if your skin reacts to dust and you get allergies and rashes because of dust, mites, and pollution then there is a chance that humectants will also react to your skin.

Humectants, such as snail mucin or Hyaluronic acid attract and retain water that is why it is advised to apply it on damp skin so that it won’t attract water from your skin making it further dry.
When I noticed that my skin was getting all clogged up and ending with acne, I immediately stopped using it and followed up with spot treatment. My major concern was why in my case hyaluronic acid serum is not working and if people are facing similar issues.
Well, I could not find similar stories but all I can think of is just my skin rejecting humectants. Same reason, snail mucin did not work out for me. After I stopped using the serum, my skin started to get back to normal.
I feel I only noticed the plumpness because of my dehydrated skin otherwise I did not make much difference. The same reason can be the cause of my breakouts as my skin was way too dry for hyaluronic acid serum to work on effectively. Well, I am not an expert so I can not pinpoint why it did not work out for me. I can only realize that Hyaluronic acid serum just does not work out for me.

It is possible that this particular product that is L’Oreal Hyaluronic acid did not work for me but it is twice in a row that the HA serum caused breakouts, from two different Brands.
A lot of people shared their experiences with the L’Oreal Revitalift Hyaluronic Acid Serum on the Internet and all I can figure out is most of them did not notice any result while a few saw the difference. A lot of consumers at Nykaa did mention that this serum gave them bumps and for some, their acne got worse. I do not know if it is the product itself or the Hyaluronic Acid has a very particular way of working out.
Update (26 December 2023): My mother tried the L’Oreal Hyaluronic Acid Serum and she absolutely loved it. It worked great for her matured skin and resulted in hydrated skin. The serum actually worked on the dryness around the mouth. She is a dry skin person with no skin sensitivity or acne concerns.
People ask me if I have tried The Ordinary Hyaluronic acid and honestly, I am not very confident about it. I do have a feeling that it won’t just work out for me. Even the reviews at Nykaa mentioned that it caused breakouts. I now strongly feel that Hyaluronic acid will only work if its very particular conditions are met.
If your skin is not damp enough, if your skin gets rashy easily, or if you have excessively dehydrated skin, then there is a possibility you might not get the desired results from HA serum.
Summing Up
L’Oreal Hyaluronic Acid Serum with 1.5% Hyaluron unfortunately did not work out for me. I did notice slight plumpness after a few days of usage but I did not notice anything in major. There was no change in my skin’s hydration level. I also experienced breakouts and my skin got all clogged up. However, I have started to feel that my skin just doesn’t accept Hyaluronic acid serums because it’s the second time I experienced breakouts with HA serum. It worked great for my Mother who has dry skin with no skin sensitivity. It improved her skin texture and made it look more plump.
Pros

- Slight plumpness after a few days of usage
- Non-sticky
- Worked for my Mother who has dry skin with no skin sensitivity
- It improved dry lip corners and skin texture for my Mother
Cons
- This resulted in clogged pores for my sensitive and acne-prone skin
- Got breakouts

Can totally relate 🙂
Same, girlie! I’ve been getting small, red, clogged bumps all over my face since using this serum. I thought it was related to my monthly cycle or something, but I realized they weren’t going away and were getting worse in places where I applied extra serum. The L’Oreal eye hyaluronic serum works for me without issue.Thank you so much for posting about this!
