Minimalist Vitamin C and Tranexamic Acid Face Serum Review

Sale Alert for my readers-

My review on Minimalist Vitamin C Serum and Minimalist Tranexamic Face Serum was long due. I was ready with the pictures and everything in August but the spontaneous trip to Udaipur happened which I believe, you must have seen on my Instagram. Then a high number of major tasks just kept coming and festivals and even October went by in all the decor and cleaning and all the festive work. I hope you had some quality time this festive season.

Update Alert – No longer use Minimalist BrandUpdate – April 1, 2024 – I no longer use the Brand Minimalist. They have changed their formulations over the past few years and their products give me breakouts and reactions. Even the products that used to work for me now result in acne. I do not recommend Minimalist anymore.

Moving on, I finally decided to sit down with my laptop and share the review. I am going to be sharing my views on both of the serums in this single article.

Lately, I have been feeling not so impressed by Minimalist products. Earlier the way I used to feel about them and the way their products used to work, I don’t see any of that anymore. Moving on with the reviews.

Review – Minimalist 16% Vitamin C Serum

My Skin Type: Combination to Oily in Summer, Dry in Winter, Sensitive, and Acne-Prone Skin.

Packaging: It comes in a default Minimalist Packaging that is dropper-based opaque bottles. Easy to use and store and the dropper works absolutely fine for the liquid consistency the product holds.

Fragrance: It has a pretty strong scent which I am not sure what is it exactly but you can sense it while applying and it isn’t the most satisfying one. It feels like I am sniffing sulfur.

My Experience

Vitamin C serum is a kind of serum for which we all stay excited because it has become a regular in our skincare routine I feel. With each and every Brand coming with its own Vitamin C serum, every one of us is on a hunt to find their ONE vitamin C serum.

I started applying this Minimalist Vitamin C serum day and night after cleaning followed by my moisturizer. And the very first thing I noticed was it kind of felt a bit sticky on my skin and even on my fingers. I didn’t feel it while massaging it on my skin but once it was all done, my fingertips felt sticky, and has this similar feeling on my face.

The stickiness settled down after a few minutes and I continued this hoping to see a positive change though I do realize that serums take weeks to show results. Before I could give this enough time of months, I started seeing my skin reacting to it.

I started getting breakouts, painful red bumps, and tiny bumps, and my skin was just not accepting it. A lot of time skin reacts to new products before accepting them but the way my breakouts and painful zits were exploding, I didn’t feel like continuing it. I felt like I wasn’t listening to my skin.

The day I felt that my face was just going in the wrong direction, I stopped using this Minimalist vitamin C serum. Days later, after continuously treating my acne with Mario Badescu Drying Lotion, my acne condition finally settled and calmed down.

With this kind of experience, I decided to dig a little more and saw a lot of people sharing their negative reviews, and some even faced intense allergies with Minimalist Vitamin C Serum 16%. Like a picture was there with a full red allergy face. My skin wasn’t new to Vitamin Serum. I had years of experience and yet this happened.

Because my breakouts and skin condition started to get better after stopping using the Minimalist Vitamin C serum, it was confirmed that this was the one causing it all.

Not only the Minimalist Vitamin C serum, but all my purchases after that including the cleansers and moisturizers, and even sunscreen started to fail. I don’t know what happened but I have a strong gut feeling that something has changed with the formulations.

The only Vitamin C Serum I use is from Nykaa SkinRx Range which is such a wonderful one giving beautiful results. My skin feels great, healthy, and supple, and there is the clarity I feel with that one. If you have sensitive skin or are generally looking for one, I will definitely suggest the Nykaa Skin Rx one.

Review – Minimalist Tranexamic Acid Serum

Fragrance: It doesn’t have a very strong or bothering fragrance. A mild product scent is there only if you sniff very closely.

My Experience

The reason I decided to give Minimalist Tranexamic Acid Serum a try is that it is been so many years since I have had these dark lip corners which I don’t find comforting at all and I tried GOD knows what not. After having a Brand like Minimalist I decided to give this serum a try as well for my dark lip corners.

I started to use the serum as suggested. It didn’t feel sticky or anything and went on really nicely. No patchiness, itching, or anything.

I continued this for weeks and I was trying to spot some positive changes but I couldn’t. I thought maybe it is going to take a lot more time as a lot of reviews on Nykaa were positive about this one.

I patiently waited but it literally didn’t do anything. Even after months. My lip corners were exactly like before and there was no positive change in my skin either.

There were no zits or breakouts but my skin overall didn’t look the way it looks when it gets treated by the right products. There were no bumps or anything but it just didn’t look right.

I don’t know why it didn’t work out in my case but it just didn’t after these two other continuously failed Minimalist Purchases, I no longer consider going for this Brand even for the products I used to love and recommend.

Summing Up

Minimalist Vitamin C serum 16% and Tranexamic Acid Serum both didn’t work out for me. The vitamin c serum caused heavy breakouts and bumps while the Tranexamic serum didn’t bring any results. The vitamin C serum also felt really sticky which is another reason I had a really bad experience with this one.

This was it for today. I hope you found the reviews helpful. Do you have any doubts or experiences to share with me? Let me know in the comments below.

Have a Good Day!
