The Formula Rx Barrier Relief Moisturizer Review – Another Disappointment
I have been seeing these tubes from the Brand The Formula Rx all over my Instagram. One day I was scrolling my Blinkit and spotted The Formula Rx Barrier Relief Moisturizer, the lightweight variant. I initially wanted to go for the heavier one, Barrier Plus, but my skin has been showing changes, so I decided to go for the lighter variant, Barrier Relief.

I have used this formula rx barrier relief day and night while pairing it with my serums and sunscreens and I am all set to share my experience.
The Formula Rx Barrier Relief Quick Review

| Availability | Blinkit and theformularx.com |
| Rating | 2/5 |

Reason for my 2/5 Rating
The Formula Rx Barrier relief did not work out for my sensitive and acne-prone skin. It is not enough hydrating and requires reapplication multiple times a day. It also resulted in breakouts, making it unsuitable for sensitive skin.
What I like about this moisturizer?
The texture is lightweight and gets easily absorbed. It didn’t leave my face looking heavy, greasy, or shiny.
What I don’t like about this moisturizer?
It is not moisturizing enough for my dehydrated skin. My skin felt dry and stretchy soon after application. The moisturizer also resulted in acne.
The Formula Rx Barrier Relief – What Does the Product Claim?
An extremely lightweight, oil-free, skin barrier fortifying gel-cream that absorbs instantly and disappears into the skin, leaving skin feeling nourished and comfortable all day long
It’s an ideal match for those who are looking for that perfect balance of hydration and moisturization without the heavy or greasy after-feel of traditional cream moisturizers or need a bit of extra nourishment from a hydrating gel moisturizer
The Formula Rx Barrier Relief Moisturizer Ingredients
Water, caprylic/ capric triglyceride, glycerin, niacinamide, propanediol, Cetearyl alcohol, cetearyl olivate, sorbitan olivate, sodium hyaluronate, colloidal oatmeal, panthenol, allantoin, ceramide np, ceramide ap, ceramide eop, phytosphingosine, cholesterol, linoleic acid, sodium lauroyl lactylate, xanthan gum, butylene glycol, carbomer, tocopherol, phenoxyethanol, dimethicone, disodium edta, linolenic acid, ethylhexylglycerin.

Packaging
It comes in a squeezable tube with a screw cap. The material is similar to that of the Boroline cream tube we used to have in our childhood. Somewhat tin-like material. It further comes in a cardboard box which is recyclable.
I am not entirely satisfied with the packaging. The product starts oozing out every time I unscrew the cap. And when I screw back the lid, the cream gets collected around the rim. Not at all flattering!
However, the brand claims that they specifically designed their packaging in a way that it maintains the quality of formulation and also is eco-friendly.
Fragrance
For some reason, it smells weird. Something like cardboard and not at all appealing.
My Experience with The Formularx Barrier Relief Moisturizer
My Skin Type: Sensitive and acne-prone skin. Dehydrated and dry due to allergies and eczema-flare-ups in the past.
I started by taking a decent amount and gently dotting it all over my face right after cleansing. I dab the moisturizer all over my face and neck and true to its claims, it is definitely lightweight like a gel cream.
The texture felt so soft on my skin and immediately absorbed without leaving any heaviness or shine behind. Next, I followed with my sunscreen and my skin still did not feel heavy at all.

Not hydrating enough
Within 30 minutes or so, my skin started feeling so dry as if I had not applied anything. My skin was demanding a moisturizer on an urgent basis. So I went ahead and re-applied the Formularx moisturizer.
Again, within an hour my skin felt so dry. I had to apply my usual moisturizer else my skin was feeling so dry and dehydrated.
I thought maybe I should have gone for the Formula rx Barrier Plus variant but I was afraid it might end up making my skin feel heavy or oily.
Even on Amazon, a lot of people shared the same issue, that the Peptide variant made skin so oily and heavy even for skin people. Ultimately, I decided to skip it.
Venusia Max Cream Review – I tried it on my Sensitive Skin
The reason is, I do not have dryness as a skin type. My dryness is a result of eczema and allergies. Else, my skin used to be super oily. Allergies ultimately resulted in dehydration and a weak skin barrier. This is why not all hydrating products work for me and neither do all lightweight products.
Even after applying The Formula Rx barrier relief moisturizer several times a day, my skin felt dry and uncomfortable. I remember I used this moisturizer in my night-time skincare and I woke up with dry-stretchy skin.

Caused acne
On top of it, I realized it was resulting in breakouts. I don’t know if the lack of hydration broke my skin or it was the formulation or as usual, the Hyaluronic acid ended up causing acne.
If you are wondering how Hyaluronic Acid can cause acne? Then there is the thing. If your skin reacts to dust and ends up with allergies and acne then there is a high possibility of humectants such as hyaluronic acid or snail mucin causing breakouts.
Even though the texture and consistency of The Formula Rx Barrier Relief Moisturizer is gel-like and lightweight, I still feel it won’t be an ideal fit for people with extremely oily skin. It might feel slightly heavy to people with oily skin. Neither is it targeted for dry skin entirely.
It might do okay for normal skin types as being with dehydrated skin, I felt it was not hydrating enough.
But again, it ended up causing acne so I won’t personally recommend it, especially to people with skin sensitivity.

FormulaRx Barrier Relief – Final Verdict
This moisturizer in no way provided relief to my skin barrier, was not hydrating enough for my dehydrated skin, and, also ended up causing acne. My skin felt dry even after multiple applications. It is lightweight for sure but it did not help my skin in in terms of nourishment.

Cons
- Not hydrating enough for my dehydrated skin
