Neutrogena Visible Repair Retinol Serum Review

I wish I had tried this Neutrogena Visible Repair serum sooner because this is by far the most suitable Retinol with visible results for my skin I have ever tried. No doubt, I also loved the one from Deconstruct as well but for some reason, I think I like the Neutrogena Retinol more.

If you want to start with Retinol or have super sensitive skin like me, this is the Retinol serum you need. It worked like a charm for my sensitive skin with no rashes or redness and I noticed visible results over time. My skin looked visibly healthy, especially around my cheeks. I love its heavy bottle and the fact that this one is specifically designed for beginners and sensitive skin.

My History with Retinol Serums

The only Brand that I ever heard for serums back in the day let alone for retinol was THE ORDINARY so when I wanted to get into retinol, I obviously went for the best.

But, that decision came with a cost.

🙋🏻‍♀️ I curated a list of

My Personal Favourites

Niharika X Nykaa

No doubt, The Ordinary Retinol delivered results but pretty soon, my skin developed allergies and eczema and I figured out that The Ordinary formulations are a bit strong for people with sensitive skin and for those who are starting out with a particular ingredient.

Ideal Retinol Percentage

After a whole year of me dealing with eczema flare-ups and symptoms (I am all good and healed now in case anyone wondering), I also learned that the Retinol percentage should be somewhere around 0.1% or 0.2% to be on the safer side for people with skin sensitivity especially.

The Ordinary was at 0.5% so that was a strong one for me to begin my retinol journey with.

Neutrogena Retinol serum doesn’t say the percentage but it does say “comfort complex” and it says it is “perfect for beginners” and “suitable for sensitive skin” so I was relieved that it won’t trigger my eczema or anything because the message was clear that the Brand understands the concerns that comes with Retinol to sensitive skin people.

Now that I have shared my retinol experience, let’s move on to the product details and my review further.

This was the first time in my experience I saw a Brand saying use Retinol daily 😹. I was pretty convinced by now that it wouldn’t do any harm to my skin.

Packaging

It comes in a heavy opaque bottle with a dropper cap and it works perfectly fine without creating any mess. It is easy to store and travel with. The bottle weight itself makes it a quality one.

Fragrance

It has a very mild scent of what exactly that I am not able to express but it ain’t strong or tingling at all.

My Experience with Neutrogena Visible Repair Serum

My Skin Type: Combination, sensitive, and acne-prone skin with a history of eczema and allergies.

By now, I was experienced enough to introduce retinol to my skin on a gradual basis. I started with a few drops after my face wash and tapped gently all over my face followed by my all-time favorite Cetaphil moisturizer in my nighttime routine.

Everyuth Pink Clay Face Wash Review – Perfect for Daily Use

Lightweight soothing texture

The consistency is milky and lightweight. Not at all heavy, oily, or sticky. It was absorbed by my skin within seconds without leaving any residue behind.

Something about the consistency feels soothing. I am not saying it is moisturizing or something the moment I tap it all over my face, my skin feels soothed.

I really liked the soft dewy milky appearance of the serum. 🥹

I started with using the serum 2 times a week for 2 weeks and then I started using it on an alternate basis or, 4 times a week max. I still don’t use it on a regular basis because there are days when I use my Glycolic acid toner.

A word of caution for Retinol beginners

Do not use any other face serum or even hair serum the night you use retinol. No Vitamin C serum, no glycolic acid, nothing. Just retinol followed by your moisturizer. Use all your serums the next day as you would normally do but do not pair Retinol with anything.

I didn’t face any allergies or rashes

I used the serum with consistency and true to the claims, the serum proved to be friendly for my sensitive skin. I didn’t experience any rashes, redness, or skin peeling that comes with retinol. Nothing at all.

I did experience a dot-like tingling sensation over a few selected areas for a few seconds but it wasn’t painful or anything. It was around my chin and forehead. That tingling sensation however stopped after a month or so.

I did not experience any breakouts or any side effects.

Noticed visible results

Now coming to the results, I think of Retinol as something that you have in your skincare routine and it pays off over time. I was not running behind the 7 day results or anything but it genuinely did something that made me see visible results in my skin appearance.

The skin around the cheek and chin area definitely looked healthier and visually better. The serum definitely did something that was truly noticeable in my opinion.

There were days when I noticed my forehead area was a lot smoother than usual.

However, the results varied over different areas on my face. Such as cheeks were the fastest to show the results whereas the results on my forehead were on an ON and OFF basis.

When I had a stressful day or week, I could see my forehead with increased stress lines whereas my overall facial skin showed prominent results.

I can definitely confirm the Neutrogena Visible Repair Serum works.

Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream Review – Worth it for Mature Skin

Perfect for my sensitive skin

What I love the most about this serum is that the Brand understands the downsides of introducing retinol to sensitive skin and I am glad I got to try this because now I have a retinol that works for my skin without any redness, rashes, or any side effects.

From smooth and lightweight texture to its effectiveness without any complications, I loved everything about Neutrogena Visible Repair Serum.

Final Thoughts

I loved everything about Neutrogena Visible Repair Retinol serum. Its comfort complex formulation worked great for my sensitive skin without triggering eczema, acne, or any allergies. I like the soft, milky, and lightweight texture that gets absorbed within seconds. I noticed visible results with the cheek area looking visibly smooth followed by the appearance of the chin area. My skin looked overall a lot more healthy after a month of usage.
