Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Cleanser Review

Neutrogena products often go well for my sensitive skin. I have tried, loved, and recommended many of their products, from their Bright Boost moisturizer to deep-clean cleansers. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Cleanser is not the first product I have tried from their Hydro Boost range. I had previously emptied a full-sized jar of their hydro boost water gel moisturizer and absolutely loved it.

Review – Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Cleanser

My Skin Type: Sensitive and acne-prone skin. Dryness due to a history of eczema.

Packaging: It comes in a blue-themed see-through glass bottle with pump packaging. The bottle is sleek and easy to store. The pump works great as well and doesn’t cause any mess or leakage. Not travel friendly though.

Fragrance: It has a mild yet refreshing kind of fragrance with a hint of aqua kind of freshness. I hope I am saying it right.

My Experience

I wanted to try the Neutrogena Hydro Boost water gel cleanser for such a long time but always thought that it was going to be super mild for my skin and might leave my skin with a soapy layer. But ever since I experienced eczema flare-ups, I have been all about hydrating products. I have used so many bottles of Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser and even switched to a Dove bathing bar for my face which, let me tell you, is one of the best decisions I took. If you are a dry-skinned person, using Dove for your face can be a game changer.

Even though products like Cetaphil, Dove, or Forest Essential were doing great for my dry skin, a part of me got bored and wanted to try something new. That is when I decided to go with Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Cleanser. With the dryness, it seemed like perfect timing to see what is all the hype about.

I got the cleanser and I started using it day and night. First things first, texture and consistency. It is a runny gel, transparent in nature, and forms a super soft lather. Those airy bubbles feel so good against the skin. I was under the impression that it ain’t going to lather up much but it does, and that light airy foam gives such a good cleanse.

While cleansing, it feels like I am using a perfectly balanced cleanser that is doing so well to get rid of all the dirt and sweat without ripping the moisture out of my skin.

Next, I wanted to see if it leaves a slippery soapy layer behind while washing off which most of the gel cleansers do but surprisingly, it did not. It did not leave any slippery layer behind and I was able to wash the cleanser off from my face within seconds.

My skin looked clean and definitely soft post-cleansing. The Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel cleanser didn’t make my skin dry any further and I did not experience that stretchy dry feeling.

With regular usage, I was able to notice a definite glow on my face. Even while taking a casual selfie or a snap, my skin looked healthy and glowy *touchwood. The sole purpose I bought the Neutrogena Hydro Boost water gel cleanser was to work on the dryness and it actually did. My skin is in so much better condition now.

Earlier, I used to re-apply my moisturizer several times a day but ever since I started using Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel cleanser, my skin has been so much improved that I apply my moisturizer once in the morning after shower and go through the day without feeling the need of re-application.

Even by looking at my face in the mirror, I can notice the change, and my skin not only feels better but looks hydrated from within. I have also been using Nykaa Vitamin-C serum and Lakme Vitamin-C serum in my skincare routine and I feel they both played an important role in the improvement of my skin since the eczema flare-up.

I did not experience any breakouts or allergies with Neutrogena Hydro Boost Cleanser. It claims to remove makeup as well but I do not use it to remove my entire makeup. I obviously use wipes and micellar water to remove my makeup and then, I use the cleanser to wash off any residue.

Because it is a mild gel-based cleanser, I use my Bioderma Pigmentbio once a week for a deep cleanse. It helps me to wash off any formation of blackheads and keeps my skin free from any congestion.

Summing Up

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Cleanser did an amazing job for my dry skin. It improved my skin health a lot with noticeable glow and hydration. It cleanses well and does not result in stretchy dry skin post cleansing. With regular usage, my dry skin is in much better condition and doesn’t feel or look dry throughout the day. Definitely recommended for dry skin or dryness during winter.
