Dot and Key Vitamin C Moisturizer Review

Dot and Key Vitamin C Moisturizer is one of the products I received a while back as a part of Nykaa PR and I have been using this moisturizer since. Dot and Key as a Brand hold a decent position in my view. I only tried a few of Dot and Key products and I think I need to explore this Brand a little more. For years I relied on moisturizers only as the face creams with added claims tend to result in breakouts. After so long I used a Face Cream and I think I am starting to like face creams again.
I recently finished a tiny tub of Neutrogena Bright Boost Moisturizer and I am definitely going to buy that again. Coming to today’s article will be my in-depth review of Dot and Key Vitamin C + E Moisturizer.

Review – Dot and Key Vitamin C Moisturizer
My Skin Type: Combination to Oily, sensitive, and acne-prone skin with occasional dryness.
Packaging: Comes in a cute glass jar with a screw lid designed as a hat which definitely looks adorable but little inconvenient to open in daily use. It also comes with a tiny spatula to scoop out the product but I do not use it as I do not know where to store it so that it doesn’t get contaminated.
Fragrance: I love the citrusy fragrance and it has such a unique blend of all the citrus notes. Not at all stingy or irritating.
My Experience
I start by taking a decent-sized amount and gently massaging it all over my face after prepping my skin with Nykaa Multi-Peptide serum. The first thing I notice was the exciting citrus fragrance and the lightweight texture.
It was easy to massage and got absorbed within seconds leaving my skin moisturized and glowy. It does have moisturizing properties so I didn’t feel the need to apply an additional layer of moisturizer but dry skin people will sure do.
I continuously used the moisturizer followed by Dot and Key sunscreen. Even though I liked the lightweight texture and how it moisturizes my skin without leaving it heavy, I felt it wasn’t doing much other than moisturizing. I didn’t notice any brightening effect or any of the claims mentioned by the Brand.
After a few weeks of regular usage, I kind of stopped using the moisturizer as my skin started experiencing dryness because of season change so I had to shift to my Cetaphil moisturizer for a while.
After a month, when my skin healed and got back to normal, I decided to use my Dot and Key Moisturizer again. What I noticed was the texture has got a little thick, sorbet, or jelly-like and there was a slight change in fragrance. It didn’t exactly feel like when I first started using the product.
It didn’t go bad. It had still that hint of citrus fragrance but I could feel some difference. The texture was still easy to apply and massage but it stayed on my skin for a while before it could finally be absorbed my skin. I am still using it day and night and it moisturizes my skin the same way it used to but I can see the product is somewhat changed after opening.
I completely understand this as the product free from strong preservatives tends to change a bit after some time once it’s opened. There wasn’t any change in efficacy which is a plus point.
The good thing is it didn’t cause me any breakouts or allergies. I like the fact that it leaves my skin moisturized and glowy without feeling greasy. Even after applying a decent layer of sunscreen and following up with a foundation, it didn’t make my skin feel heavy.
On some days, I did notice the texture feeling a little tacky against the skin when it was extremely humid but it lasted only for a few minutes and once it settled, it was all good. On the other hand, on some days I felt the need of applying my regular moisturizer without an hour of applying the Dot and Key moisturizer.
Honestly, I do feel my skin looked better with Neutrogena Bright Boost Moisturiser or with my Cetaphil Moisturisers. The appearance and the texture of my skin looked better with Neutrogena if I compare the two. For some reason, I do not feel like sticking to Dot and Key Vitamin C moisturizer and I keep going to my Neutrogena one.
Is Dot and Key Vitamin C Cream Good?
I find it decent for oily skin. It did well for my skin making it look glowy without making my skin feel heavy. I didn’t notice any brightening effect but worked good as a lightweight moisturizer. Dry skin people will feel the need for additional moisturizer depending on the season as when I had dryness, I felt the need to apply my moisturizer within a few hours of using this Dot and Key Vitamin C Moisturizer. But, for me, it isn’t any over-the-top moisturizer or something that I would stick to or buy again.
Summing Up
Dot and Key Vitamin C moisturizer is a good lightweight moisturizer for oily skin. I found the fragrance refreshing and the texture felt light and easy against my skin. It leaves my skin soft, nourished, and glowy. I didn’t notice any brightening effect or any other claims as mentioned but performed decently as an everyday moisturizer with sunscreen and under makeup. Worked for my sensitive and acne-prone skin.
