Simple Skincare is a Brand I trust for my sensitive skin. It’s PETA-approved, vegan, and caters to people with skin sensitivity and acne issues, so I don’t really have to stress so much about the quality of their products.

I have been using Cetaphil moisturizing cream for some time due to the eczema flare-ups I developed, but now that my skin is healed and no longer feels that kind of dry, I decided to try something new for my skin, and that’s when I bought the Simple Ultra Light Moisturizer.

I was bored with thick creams and wanted something lightweight for my skin for a change, and Simple didn’t disappoint.

Not to be ungrateful, those thick creams especially Cetaphil was the one that helped me heal my skin during eczema flare-ups days.

I have been using this Simple liquid moisturizer for over a month, and if you have been looking for a detailed review on this, you are on the right page.

The texture is completely different than what I have tried in the past. The texture is more like a hydrating serum. The nozzle makes it easy to pour and use. It is extremely lightweight on the skin, gets absorbed within seconds, and is suitable for only, and only oily-sweaty skin. — Not at all for dry, combination, or even normal skin.

Is there anything that I did not like about Simple ultra light liquid moisturizer?

Well, No. Because it is meant for oily skin, the moisturizer is doing the right job not being too moisturizing. If it was for dry or combination, then I would have mentioned that it ain’t moisturizing enough but there is no such case so no negative points.

Whom it is not suitable for? 🙅🏻‍♀️

If you have dry skin, or any sign of dryness, then this ain’t for you. It is for people who prefer to apply a moisturizer but don’t like the feel of it and don’t want their skin to look as if they have applied something. (I get it, because I have experienced this during my teens).

I think it is more about preference. Just like I don’t enjoy lather-free shampoos even if they are considered better. Similarly, if you like the creamy moisturizing feel, then this might not be the one for you.

My Experience with Simple Liquid Moisturizer in Detail

My Skin Type: Combination skin with oily in summer and dry in winter. Sensitive and acne-prone skin with a history of eczema and allergic dryness and rashes.

Packaging

It comes in an opaque bottle with a screw cap and a nozzle to dispense the product. The nozzle works perfectly fine controlling the flow of the product without creating a mess while using or around the bottle neck.

Got a serum like consistency

I was really curious to see what exactly the liquid moisturizer is, what do they mean by liquid moisturizer. I poured the moisturizer onto my palms and noticed the serum like consistency with a hazy look.

This was really something I haven’t tried in the past.

Liquid Consistency – Simple Daily Detox Moisturizer

When I used to have Klairs toner in my skincare routine, there were times when I did not apply anything over it simply because my skin was way oily that time and I liked the subtle lightweight moisture that toner provided. Years later, Simple actually launched this concept and I kind of like it.

Didn’t leave any shine behind

I pour some amount onto my palms, dab it gently across my face and neck and within seconds it is absorbed without leaving any shine behind. Kind of true to the claims of leaving matte finish behind.

I used the moisturizer day and night followed by sunscreen during the day and pairing with Deconstruct Vitamin C, Niacinamide, or even with The Ordinary Glycolic acid toner on different days depending on the routine and I did not experience any breakouts or rashes.

Only suited for oily skin

The texture is completely serum like. There are days when this moisturizer works fine but on some days, I do feel a little dryness and the need of applying another moisturizer on top. Which is why as I mentioned initially, it is only for oily skin.

My combination skin felt dry on some days

If you are a combination skin person and willing to use Simple liquid moisturizer, there will be days when you will need another layer of moisturizer.

During the days when I am satisfied with Simple liquid moisturizer only, it maintains the hydration through out the day as claimed by the Brand.

It doesn’t require way too much of a product which is why even after a month, the bottle feels almost 80% filled.

No clogged pores or breakouts

With the regular usage, I did not experience any breakouts, acne, or increase in dryness.

The ingredients consist of thyme and zinc pca for calming and anti-inflammatory properties which is why I guess I did not experience any boils or acne due to season change or oil secretion. That being said, it obviously won’t have any effect on the hormonal acne that I get when I have a sweet snack once in a while. 🙈

Suitable for Vegans 🎀

I have been recently exploring vegan and cruelty-free options, and Simple as a Brand fits the needs. And this moisturizer did not disappoint in any aspect. Does what it claims.

There were times during my college days when my skin would get super sweaty — thanks to the heat, an active routine, catching trains and buses, and layering skincare like moisturizer and sunscreen. This moisturizer would have been such a good option back then.

What Reddit Users Say About Simple Ultra Light Liquid Moisturizer?

There are mixed reviews, but the majority of the consumers seem to appreciate it.

While some love it for their oily skin, some don’t like the fact that it doesn’t give a feeling of a moisturizer. As I said, it ain’t for anyone with a slight bit of dryness. (source: reddit)

Yes, without a doubt. It is designed for oily and acne-prone skin and does the job of providing moisturization to oily skin without triggering acne due to excess oil very well.

✍🏻 Final Thoughts: Simple Ultra Light Moisturizer

In my opinion, it is ideal for anyone with excessive oily and sweaty skin who often face acne as a result. This one doesn’t leave any shine behind, in fact, it is serum like so for those who prefer barely-there kind of a moisturizer, this is it.

Just skip it if you have dry skin — it won’t be enough on its own.

Pros

  • Best for excessively oily and acne-prone skin
  • Best for summer and humid season
  • Leaves no shine behind
  • Doesn’t give a sweaty or heavy feeling
  • No breakouts
  • Vegan and Cruelty-Free
  • No harsh chemicals

Cons

  • Some might not feel comfortable with the fact that the moisturizing properties don’t feel like a cream-based moisturizer
  • On some days my skin felt dry with a need of another layer of moisturizer (combination skin).
