Review – The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Eye and Lip Makeup Remover
My Skin Type: Normal to Combination, Sensitive and Acne-Prone Skin
Packaging: It comes in a plastic bottle with a screw cap having the nozzle inside which controls the flow of the product. All the information is mentioned on the packaging including Ingredients and Expiry Date in both Korean and English Language but it has no mention of the price anywhere on the bottle. The packaging is totally mess-free and travel-friendly.
Fragrance: It has a fragrance similar to The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Foaming Cleanser which smells like a fresh farm of grains. It is not at all heavy on my sensitive nose.
My Experience
As mentioned, It’s been a month I am using it and I tried it in all possible cases such as with Heavy Makeup, Heavy Eye Makeup, Minimal Makeup, and Waterproof Mascara as well. As it is a bi-phase makeup remover, I start it by shaking well to mix both the liquids together.
When it comes to taking off the eye makeup, it does a fantastic job. It takes off all the eye makeup in just a few swipes without giving any burning sensation to my eyes. It went on easily on my eyes and I didn’t face any itch later on. From liner to eyeshadow to mascara, it took off everything.
When I tried it on Waterproof Mascara, I noticed that it definitely melted the waterproof mascara and took it off but the process gets slow. It required me multiple cotton pads and swipes to took it completely off. The mascara was finally off from my lashes but what I feel like is this much wiping and rubbing can be a little too much for our sensitive eye area and lashes whereas an oil-based makeup remover or coconut oil is a lot more gentle and mild yet effective in taking off waterproof mascara.

I have heard a lot of YouTubers saying that this being an eye and lip makeup remover, does a great job in taking off your face makeup as well but I have a slightly different opinion on this. It no doubt takes off the makeup from the face but it is not that effective on the face as compared to how great it performed in taking off the eye makeup. Even after multiple cotton pads and swipes, I noticed there were foundation traces left. It does the job but it doesn’t feel like a powerful makeup remover when it comes to taking off the makeup from the face. This is good only if you are wearing really minimal makeup. It doesn’t do well on the long-wearing foundation or really heavy makeup.
Also, when you are doing makeup for a video, makeup stays on your face for a very short period of time and any makeup remover will do the job. But if you are wearing makeup for the whole day, it requires a powerful makeup remover then.
Talking about how effective it is on lips. No matter what makeup remover it is, it won’t be able to take out the lipstick completely off from the lips. Every makeup remover leaves lipstick tint behind which I am habitual of and don’t find this an issue.

The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Makeup Remover Swatch Test
Here are some makeup swatches for the swatch test of The Face Shop Eye and Lip Makeup Remover. I swatch Liquid Lipstick, Waterproof Mascara, Coloured Liner, Liquid Liner, Foundation, Concealer, and Eyeshadows. I allowed them to get dry for about 15 minutes before wiping off with the makeup remover.
After Multiple Swipes without Rubbing, what is left is a Waterproof Mascara and Some Traces of Long Wearing Makeup and it required a heavy amount of rubbing. If you are someone who goes for Waterproof and Long Wearing Makeup, this might be not the best fit for you.
Apart from taking off the makeup, I noticed it also brightens up my skin. Though the effect doesn’t last long. I must say, the Rice Water Bright Range is really good at brightening properties. The Face Shop Makeup Remover doesn’t leave stickiness behind and also caused no breakouts. But I would like to mention that this contains Mineral Oil and Fragrance. I have no idea what amount is permittable to be used in cosmetics but after what I have heard, Mineral Oil-based products should be avoided. I didn’t face any skin irritation but thought to mention it.
Pros
