My Honest Aveeno Calm + Restore Moisturiser Review

I really love Aveeno as a brand and their sensitive skin lotion worked so good for my acne-prone skin. Recently, I spotted a new range from Aveeno called Calm and Restore which is targeted for sensitive skin and I decided to give this range a try. I bought their oat facewash and this moisturizer with SPF 30.
What really impressed me while I was reading about this moisturizer with SPF was that it is made of 100% mineral UV filters, meaning no chance of any skin irritation or acne.
(Quick Overview) Aveeno Calm and Restore Moisturiser Review in a Glance
I don’t know what made this moisturiser make my face look shiny and feel sticky because the brand clearly claims the formula to be non-greasy and lightweight. My skin felt so sticky and heavy that I had to wash the moisturiser off shortly after the application. Plus, the tint wasn’t exactly sheer or universal. It gave me dull grayish oily appearance.
I’ll Rate it: 1/5 ⭐️

What I liked about this Aveeno mineral sunscreen moisturiser?
- Only mineral filters and no chemical UV filters – safe for sensitive and allergic skin
- I did not experience any itch or rashes
- Vegan formulation
What I did not like about this moisturiser?
- The tint isn’t sheer and looked grayish upon application
- My face looked like a grease ball right after I applied the sunscreen
- My skin started feeling oily, sticky, and heavy, and I had to wash my face again
- The nozzle isn’t appropriate for a lotion like texture and becomes messy
My Personal Favourites
Niharika X NykaaMy Experience in Detail with Aveeno Calm and Restore Moisturizer (Mineral Sunscreen)

My Skin Type: Combination to oily in summer, dry in winter, sensitive, and acne-prone skin with a history of eczema and rosacea, and dehydration.
Thoughts on Packaging
It comes in a squeezable opaque tube with a flip-top cap. It doesn’t have that pointed nozzle that sunscreens usually have and because it has a runny lotion like consistency, the inner side of the cap became really messy.

How is the Fragrance like?
None as such
Not a sheer universal tint!
I dotted the moisturizer all over my face and neck and realised the tint is not exactly sheer. It WOULD NOT go well with all kind of skin tones. If I compare this with Brinton UV Doux, then the UV doux has a better formulated tint than this Aveeno one.
This one made my face and neck look so different and grayish.
On top of it, I am still not sure if it is a moisturizer with spf or sunscreen with moisturizing capabilities. 😹

It made my face look shiny and greasy
It looked like I used some kind of a foundation mixed with moisturizer. My face looked so, so shiny– like a grease ball!
I wasn’t liking that sticky, oily, and greasy feeling at all. The brand says it has non-greasy formula but unfortunately, my face turned super greasy and shiny right after the application.
I had to wash my face (gave a sticky and heavy feeling)
I honestly thought this would be a matter of a couple of minutes and it would just settle down on its own but within 20 minutes of the application, the sticky and heavy feeling, and the shiny look was not bearable at all and I went in to wash my face again.
The moisturizer with SPF did not feel lightweight at all. I’ll probably have to put this to use for my hands or legs that too in the winter season simply to finish it. 🥺
I thought this was maybe because my skin isn’t that dry at the moment and the season is really hot but their claim of a non-greasy formula is not even close to what I experienced. And I don’t think so the dry-skinned people will be comfortable with this moisturizer cum sunscreen either.
The formulation doesn’t feel suitable for either oily skin or dry skin because it gives a weird dull and oily look and sticky feel.
The moisturiser did not just feel heavy (like in a case of a heavy moisturizer)–It felt sticky and greasy. And this was far away from feeling nourished!!
I don’t know if it was just me or anyone else had experienced this too but this Aveeno Calm and Restore moisturiser with sunscreen was a total disappointment for me.
The good part was I did not experience any rashes or redness upon application. 🤓
