Sale Alert for my readers-

I have tried Garnier products multiple times and every time I used a Garnier Product, I got itchy skin. But this was years back in my teenage days. Now that we are in 2019, I wondered if Garnier is still the same or got Improved over time?

I decided to try Garnier again and see if it works for me now.

The best I could find to give Garnier another try is by trying this combo of Garnier Light Complete face cream and body lotion at a discounted price. I also got the duo action Garnier Light Face Wash and wrinkle-lift along with the combo which I will be reviewing in my upcoming blog posts.

Let see how it worked for me.

Now, I really don’t know why the product claims revolve around whitening and giving fairer skin. We are in 2019 and I am pretty sure we all are well educated enough to understand our skin color comes from melanin production which is all-natural.

Review – Garnier Light Complete Serum Cream

My Skin Type: Combination to Oily, Sensitive, and Acne-Prone

It comes in a round plastic tub with a screw lid. The texture of the cream is light but I feel it is extremely matte which makes it a bit uncomfortable to massage on the face. Even though I have a combination of oily skin, but the application is matte up to a level that makes my skin feel dry. Whereas I like my skin to be moisturized and glowy.

Because it feels matte and a bit drying on the application, I won’t suggest dry skin people go for this.

After massaging on the skin, it leaves a slight whitish cast (weird!) which fades away after massaging in. Not only this, it forms tiny small white balls. Even though it faded away, I didn’t like the feel and look of it.

I continued using it for a few days and what I noticed was, I was getting pimples and itchy skin. I stopped using it for a while to check if my skin gets back to normal and yes, it did! I realized it was the Garnier Light that is causing irritation. I couldn’t use it any longer to see if it works on pimple spots because of the allergic reaction I was having after using the cream. I discontinued using it as it was clear to me that Garnier Products are still the same giving my skin breakouts and irritation.

Pros

  • Affordable

Cons

  • Gives Breakouts and Itchy Skin
  • Leaves Whitish Cast
  • Forms small white balls on the skin after massaging
  • Not for Sensitive and Acne-Prone Skin
  • Leaves a totally matte finish which is slightly drying
  • Feels a bit drying while massaging

Review – Garnier Light Complete Moisturizing Serum-in-Lotion

The Lotion can be applied on face and body, both, hence I tried it as a body lotion and facial moisturizer.

The consistency of this is like a regular lotion, i.e, that is thick and runny enough to apply and massage easily. It has a refreshing fragrance as well.

I regularly used this as my facial moisturizer and body lotion and realized that it works great as a body lotion. Though it forms small white balls after massaging completely which I don’t know why. It isn’t that hydrating sort of lotion but does a good job of moisturizing. It is great for people with oily and sweaty skin but it might not work during winters when skin gets dry.

I didn’t get any irritation or acne on the body so it passed the test for me as a body lotion

But, it worked the same way as Garnier serum cream when used on the face, that is, gave me an allergic reaction.

Though I like the formulation of it for the face, which is slightly moisturizing and not a total matte, it doesn’t even leave the whitish cast, but still, I couldn’t use it because I got irritation and itchy skin when used on the face.

After trying this combo, I got a clear indication that Garnier is never going to work for me. It not only gives me pimples but also makes my skin itchy.

Pros

  • Affordable
  • Refreshing Fragrance
  • Works great as a body lotion
  • Lightweight
  • Moisturizing

Cons

  • Using on the face can lead to breakouts and itchiness
  • Forms small white balls upon massaging

Summing Up

Garnier Products used to, and still cause breakouts and itchy skin. Definitely, not for sensitive and acne-prone skin. The Garnier Serum body lotion is somewhat good but only when used as a body lotion. Using on the face can lead to breakouts. The Garnier Light Cream is a bit drying, leaves whitish cast, and causes itchy skin.

So this was it for today. I hope you have found this post helpful.

Have a Good Day! 😇

  1. best review on these products. Trust me on this. i was going to invest in the serum-in-lotion, thinking that it will simultaneously moisturize intensely while lightening body parts. boy was I wrong. I’m glad I didn’t buy before reading your review. That sh!t costs 1500 bucks for 400 ml in Bangladesh! can you believe it?! All hype and no game; typical Garnier!
    Thank you again. God bless.
