And in case you’re planning to start working out soon, or you’re just looking to change your workout routine here are some tips that will help you be more kind to the environment, while also trying to get that killer body.

1. Keep yourself Hydrated

Hydration is extremely important during the workout, so whenever you leave your home for the gym, don’t forget to bring bottled water in order to keep yourself hydrated, especially if you prefer more intense workouts that require you to use more energy. 

If you’re bringing a water bottle, try to make sure it’s reusable, because the plastic waste is causing already enough problems for the environment, considering that people use million water bottles a minute, and what’s even worse, that number is expected to only increase by 2021.

So, keeping yourself hydrated is a must, but also, try to think of the environment and get yourself a recyclable water bottle that can be used multiple times.

Eating the right food can help you lose weight and look great, but when it comes to the environment, sustainable diet and increased demand for more ethical agriculture practices can also contribute to less pollution.

Breakfast is extremely important, so if you’re looking to take care of your diet, make sure to incorporate it into your morning routine. 

Also, your breakfast should consist of nuts, proteins, and healthy fats, and if possible, try to stay away from too much sugar. 

Sustainable food can be very beneficial to the environment, considering that farming and production practices are much kinder and less harmful to everybody who’s involved. 

3. Use Proper Supplements

Many of those who work out decide to start using supplements in order to improve their performance and get better results. If you feel like you must use supplements, make sure they’re natural, plant-based and full of vitamins and healthy fatty acids and amino acids that will help you distribute your energy and increase your endurance without resorting to unhealthy chemicals and other substances that can seriously harm your health.

4. Exercise at Home

Gyms are convenient as they have everything you may need, but they also produce a large carbon footprint which is actually responsible for global warming and other dangers related to climate change. 

But, if you opt to work out at home, you can save yourself a lot of money on an expensive gym membership, and what’s even better, do your part when it comes to saving the planet. 

Now, in order to have a successful home workout, you need to set a schedule and make sure you stick to it. If possible, try to stay away from distractions and if you don’t know where to start, there are many useful apps and YouTube videos that will help you get the right equipment and have a productive workout session at home.

5. Try to Workout Outdoors

Exercising at home can be great, but if you decide to do it outside, then that’s even better, especially during warm spring and summer months. 

When it comes to exercising outdoors, you have more opportunities to use any space you like (as long as it’s not occupied). 

Park benches, grass areas, and walls can be used for a wide variety of exercises such as squats, planks, and push-ups and furthermore, you don’t need to pay for the gym and worry about whether your machine will be available next time you decide to exercise.

6. Wear Eco-Friendly Gym Clothing

More and more gyms are turning to green business practices, which is amazing, considering that they contribute a lot to the overall pollution of the environment. 

Now, considering that gyms are already doing it, it’s only right that gym-goers start using eco-friendly gym clothing such as durable and breathable women’s socks that will ensure you a comfortable and sweat-free workout session. 

It’s just important to make sure that activewear brand is ethical and uses organically-grown materials, such as cotton and bamboo.

7. Use Eco-Friendly Cosmetic Products

It’s important to have some cosmetics products in your gym bag, especially a shower gel and a deodorant. Therefore, it’s necessary to focus on brands that are cruelty-free and use only organically derived ingredients. 

Your deodorant should be free of aluminum and other potentially dangerous substances, while your shower gel should be free of sulfates, parabens, and silicones.
