Review - The Face Shop Smart Peeling Mild Papaya Gel Scrub

Packaging: It comes in a pump bottle with a locking clip which keeps the pump locked when not in use. It protects from any kind of leakage. I really loved this concept. All pump bottles should be like this. 😃

My Experience

The Face Shop Mild Papaya Smart Peeling Scrub - Review - Peeling Gel
The Face Shop Mild Papaya Smart Peeling Scrub

This is the first time I tried something called "Peeling Scrub" or "Peeling Gel" and I enjoyed it. It is something different and new from those regular granules based scrubs. The consistency is just like a gel and doesn't contain any sort of exfoliating beads in it.

I took half or one pump and started massaging on my clean and dry face in good circular motions just like we do with our regular scrubs. Next what I see is, the gel turns in some sort of peels and those tiny peels were massaging and exfoliating my skin. It is a totally different concept from granules based exfoliators.

What an amazing and unique feeling it was. Those peels gave me a feeling like my skin is getting a good to cleanse. I massaged well for a minute or two and washed away with water. My skin clearly felt soft post-wash. There wasn't any Instant Brightness or something but my skin really felt clean and exfoliated.

It claims to leave skin moisturized and yes it didn't leave my skin dry or stretchy at all. I am happy that it didn't leave any greasy layer on my skin.

Are Results any Different from Regular Granules Based Scrubs?

No. The results are not different if compared to regular granules based scrub. After both types of exfoliation, my skin feels clean, smooth and soft. The only difference is the way both scrubs works. One has beads or granules which can go from mild to strong whereas one is in gel form which turns into peels.

A lot of time, sensitive skin and acne-prone skin people are advised to go for mild scrubs and I think this will do the job. I have been myself told by Salon ladies that I should avoid using strong scrubs because it may increase my skin sensitivity. I don't know true it is. I still use those regular scrubs because I love them. 😂

If you feel like you need an exfoliator but not with those poky granules, I think this will be an ideal option for you.

One thing which I am confused is about the Ingredient "Alcohol". On the bottle, it says it contains no-alcohol but in the Ingredients, one ingredient naming "Isopropyl Alcohol" is there. I have no idea if bot the ingredients are totally different, but on Wikipedia, it says it is a colorless, flammable chemical compound with a strong odor.

Oh, and yes, it didn't cause any sort of irritation. I faced no rashes, breakouts or itching.

If you will ask me which I like more, I will say both are unique in their own ways and both feel great on the skin. But I feel like, somewhere in my mind I am more shifted towards those regular scrubs not because the results are any different, but because these peeling scrubs are way too costly. And, I personally enjoy those granules on my skin.

I wanted to know what Peeling Scrub feels like and what exactly it does and I am happy to give that a try. No matter what, those regular traditional scrubs will be forever favorite. 😃

In short,
The Face Shop Mild Papaya Smart Peeling Douce or Scrub is in a gel form which turns into peels when massaged on dry skin. Those peels give a mild exfoliation leaving skin massaged, clean, soft and smooth. The results are not any different from regular granules based scrubs. Those who prefer mild exfoliation and want to avoid granules will like it. Plus, this one is free from parabens.

Pros
  • Unique Exfoliating (Smart Peeling) Formula
  • Mild on Skin
  • Leaves skin clean, soft, and smooth
  • Causes no dryness or breakouts
  • Doesn't leave any greasiness behind
  • Free from Parabens
  • Works for all skin type

Cons
  • Costly
  • Not a con, but results aren't any different from regular scrubs.

So, this was it for today. I hope you have found this post helpful.
