In the brave new world, we live in, taking some time off and spending it all on yourself can be a tough challenge at times. Indeed, trying to juggle your work hours, daily commute, as well as other random chores that are bound to pop up on your to-do list at least a couple of times a week, make devoting some time to yourself quite an impossible mission.
So, in order to stay mentally stable and physically fit, you’ll need to set some time off just for yourself. This may seem a bit overwhelming at first, but as is the case with many other things, there’s nothing that a well-adjusted routine can’t conquer! Therefore, in this article, we’ve decided to propose to you some healthy habits you can practice every day.
Alright then folks, here’s what you’ve got to do!
Set Specific Work Hours and Specific Non-Work Hours
This especially goes for freelancers and people who work from home.
If you’re a person who finds it tough to figure out when to work and when not to work, chances are:
1) You often end up working not much at all, and
2) You spend most of your day trying to get yourself to start working.
To battle this, set a strict schedule complete with working hours and the rest periods. Make sure to include pauses in between the work sessions, so that you don’t get overworked. Thus arranged, your day can become not only much more productive, but you’ll also have much more free time to go around!
Physical fitness represents one of the key ingredients of a well-balanced life, so skipping workouts is certainly not a way to go if you mean yourself well.
Now, if you don’t really like running, that’s perfectly fine, but there are other forms of exercise, too. For example, lifting weights, rope-skipping, and bag-punching are all activities that train your muscles and burn fat. To get started, if you haven’t already, you can join your local gym and take baby steps towards tackling that big, scary-looking weight rack at the corner of the room. By the way, working towards an exercise goal may increase the chances of sticking to a workout routine!
If you can’t be bothered to pack your gym clothes and go there to exercise, you can also set up your own mini gym at home! You can buy all the stuff you need from sports equipment-selling companies such as Cyber Fit, for example. A couple of hand weights, a Bulgarian bag, or a punching bag and you’re ready to go!
Get Enough Sleep
One of the biggest plagues of our daily routines would be the chronic lack of sleep. Mostly due to poor planning and a complete lack of organization, people tend to sleep less and less, and the effects can be as bad as smoking a pack of cigarettes a day!
No matter how you decide to organize your work schedule, you should always make sure to leave 8 hours of sleep in your day. Bottom line here is – no matter how busy you are, compromising your sleep time is something you simply shouldn’t ever do.
In order to pull this off, you’d need to stick tight to the work schedule, because if you’ve got unfinished business, you may feel bad about it and then decide to forego some of your sleep in order to make it up!
All in all, considering the hectic nature of today’s busy bee lifestyles, it’d be fair to say that the biggest part of caring about yourself successfully, so to speak, comes down to proper organization. If you can make a feasible work plan, pair it up with an exercise routine, and then still have time for high-quality sleep – you’ve pretty much done it.
